Ceremonial Musicianship Workshop

with Todji

This is a workshop to learn and practice singing ceremonial songs and to accompanying yourself with percussion or another instrument that you bring, for all levels.  If you wish to learn to sing and play a drum, shaker or clap your hands in rhythm while singing, we will practice this.  I will teach a few ceremonial songs, along with drum and shaker patterns with guitar strums that match, and we will practice the songs and the rhythm separately, and then put them together to create a beautiful offering of ceremonial song!  I wish that all participants come away with new songs, new rhythms, and improved musical coordination to open the way to grow the expression of your passion and devotion!  

Bio: Todji is a professional spiritual artist whose art practices include Tabaquero, Curandeiro, Sculptor, Musician, Contractor, Hospitality and Teacher. During his Tabaquero apprenticeship Todji completed sixteen dietas with Amazonian master trees and was trained in cooking tree medicines and administering dietas by world renowned master Tabaquero Ernesto Garcia. Previous to that Todji dieted five other Amazonian master plants with the Shipibo, Yawanawa, Huni Kuin and Kuntanawa tribes.  At the beginning of his training in 2008 Todji was called to heal himself from 6 years of life threatening illness including poisoning from an Amazonian master plant, spiritual attack during ceremonies in the deep Amazon, and survive three near death experiences. Todji has practices in three Amazonian Sacred Plant Medicine lineages: Templo Ampiri, Shipibo and Umbandaime, and has his own medicine temple called Santo Amor.  Todji lived in Brazil for two years, and Peru for one year during his apprenticeships, and learned to speak Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish to talk to his teachers in their own languages.  Todji has a very wide breadth of experience in South American Sacred Plant Medicine.  Todji has played drums in Brazil during carnival for audiences of 40,000 people in the streets, and has studied Brazilian percussion for ten years with master percussionist Dudu Fuentes. Todji facilitates sacred plant meditations with Michelle Hawk and offers master plant dietas, and ceremonial song workshops near Portland Oregon.
